Personally I would love to see a Pokemon game set in the alps. There is a lot of folklore to base pokemon of like for example a legendary pokemon based of krampus.

The middle east/Egypt would be neat, and a Louisiana region would be really cool, too. Would probably pull from Texas and maybe a couple other states too.

I don't think it will happen since these days Pokemon regions are pretty big locations instead of niche ones like Arizona, but I can dream

based, this is in my top 10 most wanted. Japan doesn't really know much about them though, the Japanese Pokémon comminity would be confused and skeptical at it.

They already did it with Unova (New York City) and Alola (Hawaii). Also I feel like Texans would riot if Texas was part of a Mexico region.

That's why I think it won't happen again because they could have put it into Unova.
Also they can just have a big wall between texas and the rest to separate it maybe texas is a place you can only enter after being champion.

My money's on greece/rome/general Mediterranean area. Loads of mythology and history to work with, lots of islands that could each have individual gimmicks, maybe have some kind of Olympic-type competition going on bringing in trainers from other regions which would give them an outlet for their constant pandering to older gens.

Why not have all of south east Europe. You start in Greece and because the balkan areas are to dangerous you take a ship to south Italy and than through Italy to the Austrian Alps. And in the end you can enter the most dangerous area of all, the balkans.
