LGPE is on a totally different system, it has completely different mechanics and looks visually very different. It’s not a mainline game, it isn’t gen 7 or gen 8, and as far as how it feels to Pokemon fans and people who play Pokémon, it feels like neither gen 7 or gen 8. Melton was introduced after gen 7 ended and is not available in any gen 7 game - it isn’t a gen 7 mon. We have no idea if it will be available in SS, if it is then I’d say since that’s the first mainline game he’s available in he’s a Gen 8 mon.
It doesn’t matter either way, a single evolutionary line won’t make or break either gen 7 or 8, and the design is poorly executed no matter which gen it’s from, if any.
