I have a friend who bought the family plan and shared it with me.

A family plan can be shared with atleast 6 users no matter where they live or what country their account is tied to, so if you get a group of friends you can all share the price and have 12 months of nintendo online for merely 4 dollars each.

Don't have a switch. Can't justify it for one game. And paying for online, on top of that? Gen VIII might be grVIII but I'll have to sit this one out.

I already have Nintendo online. I'll check out what online SnS has to offer but I'll probably stick to Pokemon showdown for online battles. Being able to see battles on my TV screen instead of a tiny 3ds screen definitely makes me more interested, though.

Personally waiting until nintendo releases the next actual handheld. Only reason I'd buy a switch is if they made a new pokemon snap. No justification for a new console when I have a PC and a PS4.

I don't feel the need to play online with certain games, so why would I give away my money for a service I'm not going to use?

The point is: are you already paying? Or could SS alone be worth the fee for you?

It may be cheap compared to PS4, but why should someone pay if he's not interested at all?

I got invited to part of a family plan on my work colleague's. I have online access now.

The only restriction, only ever, is that only the parent account can buy shit like the exclusive NES controller (which shoudlnt matter to anyone) and that in some countries they're sending special codes meant for Nintendo Online subscribes to their parent accounts, so you'd have to sometimes contact your friend that purchased the family plan for you all "hey man check your email to see if they sent you our splatoon codes" and whatever.

Otherwise it has been super smooth so far. My friend is in fucking Egypt and I'm in Chile and at no point we ever found any hurdle.

I can't imagine they would lock trading behind the paywall... Did they lock trading behind the paywall in Let's Go? Or did they not even have GTS in Let's Go? I guess even if they do you should still be able to trade and battle locally. But Wonder Trade was fun and it would be a bummer if non subscribers couldn't access that. I concede that online battling would be behind the paywall though since that's actual multiplayer.

Got it for Splatoon but i'm not happy about it since there's been no discernable improvements since the Switch online started, and the NES online thing is downright insulting after i've lived through the Wii virtual console era.

I have no plans to use the online for pokemon at this time.
