No, there's yet to be a Sakugabooru like site for hosting pre-production material. Only some dedicated collectors host their findings in blogs. Sadly this kind of stuff is really hard to come by because it only gets published through limited edition artbooks or online auctions and most people are still kinda illiterate about the process and materials involved in video game and animation development.

The transition to 3D was undoubtedly the single worst thing to happen to this game. Gen 5 sprites were the perfect way to bring pokemon to life without literally sucking the fucking soul out of them in 3D

Only because its fire isn't always lit during combat. Same reason why people shit on Delphox, it looks great in the official art but it's model is absolutely horrendous in game.

Hippowdon was among my favorites in G4, but ever since all the 3D versions of it took away its sand pile I stopped caring about it. Why is this allowed? The sand pile was as integral to Hippowdon's design as the leek stalk is to Farfetch'd's.

My guess is since they already went overboard with the poly counts for the base models, a sand pile surrounding it would have sent its poly count through the roof, so they had to compromise for the 3DS hardware. This is why GF needs to revisit every 3D model for the Switch moving forward. No more hardware limitation excuses for a barebones representation of each Pokemon

The sand was removed in Battle Revolution on Wii too. I don't think it's that complex of an effect, the fire particles on Moltress present a bigger rendering problem for hardware.

The leek is Farfetch'd's weapon. Hippowdon just blows sand out of the holes on its body, the sand isn't part of the Pokemon's design.

model is just....ugh. Ruined one of my favorite Gen 5 mons. If they can't animate it right, just have it stand on the fucking ground and look majestic and shit.

Another thing is how fur on a lot of 3D models looks like plastic. Case in point: Braviary has fur around its talons in 2D, but it's removed for 3D which makes it look cartoonish/plastic
