I believed the games mostly improved over time especially on gen 6 and 7 that introduced plenty off qol improvements, there was literally no way to get a decent legal competitive Pokémon prior gen 6 and now it takes an hour. Prior gen 4 you couldn't even go online and filling dex was impossible without irl friends. People who rank newer gens low are those guys that play for 20 hours and drop the game after the e4.

That's cool to know then. I'm kinda the same, I think most of the games are similar enough but with later improvements. But of course things like music and the Pokemon in a gen are big factors in my enjoyment

People who rank the new gens higher are biased for new shit. A lot of long time fans who put many hours into pokemon are being objective. The base new games suck, the only people who bother with the non existent post game are competitive shills, while showdown exists. GameFreak still has a lot to go to make the games more balanced and less grindy.

I agree almost entirely... its just getting through the games incessant cutscenes cripples the games replayability so hard, which for a lot of people is a huge deal.

I agree festival plaza was a big downgrade but things like hyper training, mounts, different e4 challengers, battle tree featuring characters from previous games unlike maison, guarenteed 4x31 IV Ditto and just looking much better balance it, though gen 7-6 are really close for me, same for 4-5

2 - muh nostalgia, plus two regions
5 - the only game that does a good job at being an RPG and 150 new pokemon was lit
1 - muh nostalgia
6 - did a good job at making more pokemon available than ever before instead of having a small regional dex
4 - too many babies and ugly evos
3 - too much water, doomed my original pokemon
7 - could not finish, boring, very superficial attempts to look like it was doing something new
