There's no reason you can't apply Emerald enhancements to versions in a remake. Even the Hoenn battle tower wouls have been fine as opposed to the Battle Maison just as a change of scenery, but those remakes didn't even honor that. There were good things too, like DexNav and Secret Base enhancements, but it didn't feel like enough.
