>>37918299>CyrusCyrus was pretty much always autistic, and had strained relations with his parents, to say the least. He was never good enough, and feelings of inferiority and rejection in his formative years fucked him up for life by convincing him that emotions were to blame for his shitty life and also everything wrong with the world. Combine this with impaired empathy and a controlling personality, and it becomes clear to him that he should create a better universe in his own image that was free of the one thing holding this one back.
>commanders and gruntsAs other anons have stated, they were unaware of their leader's endgame. Cyrus was a cult leader who used his own passionate dedication to rally others to him. This is no small irony from a man who wanted to wipe out emotions, as Saturn later points out. I don't find it at all unreasonable to speculate that like most cult members, they joined because Cyrus made them feel special and important. After Cyrus fucks off, Mars and Jupiter quit, and Charon goes to prison, Saturn is the only commander left. He learns of what Cyrus planned on doing, becomes disgusted, and vows to make Team Galactic into a positive force on the world.
