>>37925649Ash didn't have to promote LGPE by catching Meltan, not when he could just carry it around with him like Nebby, Squishy, Meloetta, etc. In Nebby and Squishy's cases, they both evolved or unlocked stronger forms, all without a main character catching them. Poipole was only caught for necessity; to keep the UB confined while Lusamine finds its Ultra Wormhole. Meltan has no such reason to be confined.
>This is just bullshit speculation. It's not just speculation. It's supported by some evidence. Melmetal is said to have disappeared for 3,000 years and then suddenly come back to life in a LGPE dex entry. 3,000 years is very specific in Pokemon game universe as this was when AZ's war (the Kalos war with the other country) ended. Kalos is based on France, and Galar is based on UK. France and UK fought each other countless times across the centuries. Galar is the most likely opponent for Kalos during said war, and Melmetal was probably used during that war to some capacity. Melmetal creates its own metal out of nowhere and out of nothing. Galar, like UK, is an industrialized region that relies heavily on coal and iron ore to grow. A Pokemon such as Melmetal that can create its own metal would be invaluable to Galar. The Melmetal tease commercial had a British motif and ambiance, and both of their designs have a more Western feel than anything that came from Alola.
Ash catching Meltan here and now is suspicious as fuck. The fact they're treated this particular rare Pokemon differently, and how the writers deliberately passed off every non-Legendary, non-Mythical, non-UB Pokemon in Gen VII just so Ash can catch Meltan makes alarm bells ring off in my head.
