The first and biggest reason is the content what was leaked.
Pressumably, this is going to be the regional bug of Galar, which no one really gives a shit about. And its only 1 Pokemon at that too.
The Grinch leak, however, promised we would get Geno, Issac, Banjo, Shadow, Mach Rider, the Chorus Kids, and adds Ken in with how obvious and safe he was. Also, remember that the Grinch leak came out a few weeks before the last direct. It implied we were getting 5 newcomers from several different series being announced at a 30 minute direct when Spirits weren’t even announced. That was the biggest red flag to the Grinch Leak being fake.
Peanugget is simple, expected, and would have a reasonable reveal early on.
The second major reason is the content of the leaks themselves.
Peanugget has a video everyone can see and analyze its legitimacy, finding any big mistakes, and doesn’t try to hide itself as much. It also isn’t too clear either. It looks like an employee genuinely recorded footage of Peanugget before someone noticed them.
The Grinch leak is the opposite in this area. The grinch was record on Snapchat so that no one could actually fucking look at the video. Then someone took a screenshot in the video while it was completely blurry, hiding any imperfection in the mural, and we are supposed to believe someone from a printing company just had the final mural laying around for employees to touch and move around.
And not only that, but why would a leaker make it so easy for themselves to be found when they LEAKED THE REMAINING 7 CHARACTERS.
And even if we assume that the printing company was laying that mural around and an employee just so happened to leak what he thought was the real deal, we already knew that Smash has a history of making false rosters. They had voice actors in Sm4sh to reference all sorts of characters.
