I understand that all Fossils are Rock, so they all get it, but that means that Aerodactyl was just Flying type prior, or that types are able to override existing types, such as Rock overriding an existing type through the Fossil recreation, but then again his Mega Form has rocks.
If he was always Rock/Flying even prior to Fossilization, then why, it seems very counter-productive to a flying system, might explain why it went extinct.
