Reviving this thread with an updated image:
So I looked through the National Dex so far, and extensively selected what I feel best represents the history, mythology, themes and wildlife of the UK/England/Galar Region. I believe this is the best selection of returning Pokémon. There is about 170, which is about how many returning Pokémon showed up in Alola and Unova, which would compliment the likely 70-100~ new Pokémon really well.
>but not all Pokémon are inspired by the region they were introduced in!
True, but why focus on what we can't speculate on, instead of what we can?
>but what about Bellosom in Alola!
Technically speaking, Game Freak never forgot about Bellosom. That Pokémon was included and referenced in numerous places in Alola, particularly by and around tourists, as opposed to the natives of Alola. Interesting implication there. Beyond those implications, Bellosom wasn't featured in the Dex, likely because the Alola Dex already had an abundance of Hawaiian-themed Pokémon, and particularly a shitton of Grass Types in general. The Oddish line is also arguably rather unfitting for Alola outside of Bellosom, which may have contributed to the decision. I also think they just preferred playing around with the idea that Bellosom is a tourist misconception of an Alolan Pokémon, a bit meta there, huh.
With all that in mind, what do you guys think? Any questions? Anything I missed?
