hatching full odds magby, approaching 1000 eggs. hatching takes so long that I took a break from hatching and started SRing for a gamecorner abra and got one in less than an hour.

No it's a gen 7 thing. Gen 6 had it so that you could trade eggs to someone with the right SID to get a shiny.

There's not much left to discuss. Gen 7 has been out for nearly 3 years and people did most of their gen 1-6 hunting last gen.

Shininess is calculated from the Pokemon's personality value and its OT's SID.
Since the OT is the person who hatched the egg, this means it's determined when the egg hatches.
However, the personality value is fixed when you obtain the egg.

Swap breeding works because the game has a special RNG seed only used for eggs. It doesn't actually determine anything ahead of time.

Really though, that shit doesn't really have much bearing on the threads being dead. Gen 7's felt like it's been dragging on forever, people have hunted what they wanted to in gen 7 already, and the less we talk about the recent game, the better. Gen 7 also doesnt have chain fishing, dexnav, friend safari, or hordes, so there's much less to get new people into hunting, it's pretty much the opposite of early gen 6.

I've never done one. I could try one in this White file, I just started it. I'm right at the Pinwheel Forest, only beat the first Gym so far.
