You should box your starter in pretty much any given pokemon game. Removes a lot of the challenge early on when you're literally handed a pokemon that's statistically better than the vast majority of what you'll encounter for the next four badges or so of gameplay.

Why does it have 70 fucking attack?
GameFreak knows how to min-max low bst 'mons like Vivillon and Alolan Sandslash but Vikavolt is stuck having to take the full brunt of Gen 7's damage output with meager bulk.

SM's soundtrack is strong as fuck past a few weak battle themes. I was surprised at how many memorable route and town themes there were.

Some Pokémon were more than weapons.

When you fought against these two Pokémon you could think "hey, I know you!", while most of the Pokémon you fight against during the whole franchise are just used as weapons (you only know them in battle, after that you forget they existed).

Damn, these two are even in your 1st Alola champion feast and they congratulate you as another important character. They showed that the Ponémon are also sentient species

I'd honestly say Alola had the best bugs overall. Unova was great but had a couple of "eh" bug designs mixed in.

Important trainers having min maxed stats or even just certain trainers having stats to match their trainer class.
USUM totem battles were good but could be cheesed.
Not specific to get 7 but viable move tutors scattered around during the main story.

I really liked that too. The idea of Pokemon helping out with jobs or just interacting with people needs to be fleshed out more, but I think Alola did a fairly good job with it.

I know none of you nostalgia-blind faggots want to admit it but USUM had the best player characters of any Pokemon game.

Also the Grubbin, Charjabug, and Vikavolt line is the best starting bug line since Caterpie. I'd even say it's better.

Speed in Pokémon is too see who atacks faster not who moves faster. It makes sense for Vikavolt to be slow because he needs to take time to charge his atacks, thats why his sp atack is so high

I consider this understandable/forgivable; there's really not much they can do to prevent cheesing without resorting to nonsense like an aura that makes the Pokemon immune to status problems.

Not bait faggot, the two player characters have great fashion that fits perfectly with the Alola region, and their official art shows them in dynamic, unique poses. They have far more character in their character designs than any of the other blank-slate protagonists.

I liked how they weren't afraid of making old gen Pokemon counterparts to the newer ones. For example: Masquerain got a 40 point stat buff so that it mirrors araquanids 454 base stats. Parasect and shiinotic fight over territory and have matching stats. The ecosystem stuff in the dex was also neat like with mandibuzz and the marowak line. I wish they had managed to flesh out sos battles more so that you could have more encounters akin to sableye and mareanie.
