Yea, because thats what Pokemon is about, finding a surfboard or axe to overcome obstacles. They got rid of HMs in the perfect way with Pokeride by still allowing Pokemon to help you without forcing you to use HMs.

I would like something similar to LGPE's ridable pokemon. Not all pokemon are ridable but you just might have one that does.

Same with rock smash, fly, surf, etc. Let's say you need to surf and you just caught a Goldeen, or a Sharpedo or any Pokemon that by lore can surf. You just hop on it and that's it.

No HMs wasting slots and it makes the Pokemon in your team seem like a friend that helps in your journey rather than something you only battle with.

HMs are annoying. Having to rent Pokemon foreign to your party is pure cancer and goes against the very concept of adventuring with your team.

The best way is to allow you to ride Pokemon of your party without needing any move.

Hopes: Gamefreak drops mandatory HMs and gives pokemon inherent abilities based on type so all water types can use Surf, Flying and dragon can fly, fighting can break rocks, fire, bug, grass, can cut trees, etc, after the proper badge is obtained, of course.

Realistic prediction: HMs will be the same as they always have been in main games. I doubt they'd do ride again, and they could just do something else entirely

Give us HMs back, and disable the infinite TM/HM thing, also nerf Surf, Waterfall, Strength and Fly to half damage. And remove early access to pokemon that can learn multiple HMs like Dragonite.

What I mean by more or less is that they're pretty much just skills you learn a separate menu that are gained in the same basic way HMs are gained. Clearly the balloon chair is dumb but learning a skill like it that more or less operates like fly is good. And then you have Pokemon like Gyrados, Lapras, Aerodactyl, etc who make traveling easier. Do more of that.

I think Ride Pokemon work really well for Alola but they're too tropical island touristy for Galar. I don't see HMs returning though. They've been something people have vocally hated since gen 1 and over the last few games their worth has significantly decreased.

I wish that they did something along being able to ride pretty much almost anything (something similar to LGPE) without a HM but that's not happening.
If not, then give mounts the major mons like some starters and legendaries. Oh, and give more choices of travel, like traveling across lava or something, and make it optional.

As long as the rest of the game is acceptable just continue with the trend of having horrible, janky generic animations for everything, I would settle for Charizard appearing in front of a cut bush and just having the bush get cut away by nothing, Charizard doesn’t HAVE to actually have a slashing animation although it wouldn’t even be a big deal and it should, but.

I'd like to see the HMs improved for battling if I'm forced to have them with me. Surf is really the only HM actually viable as a primary attacking move. Dive and Fly have utility, Waterfall is a good physical alternative to Surf. Strength and Cut do nothing, and Rock Smash is weak. If strength could cause a flinch like Waterfall it might be worth using over another Normal move. Rock Smash would be cool if the def down was 100% or the base power was increased. Cut is the worst, and is pretty useless, give it the same crit boost to make it a lesser Slash and maybe it'll be worth having.

Bar far the most infuriating thing about gen VII for me is the fact that using ride Pokemon makes you wear those terrible fucking outfits instead of the one you yourself picked for your character. They're just so goddamn ugly. At least the cutscenes never come back after a certain point, but ride Pokemon replaced the fucking bike, so it's either go around slowly or deal with the terrible outfit while riding Tauros. God fucking damn it. Alola was a mistake.

I've seen a couple fan games make cut a grass type move. Combined with a small base power increase it could be useful for coverage. Fly and Dive would be better if they jacked up the base power to 100 or 110 to mirror something like sky attack or solar beam.

We've talked about pokemon as a 3D game, an MMO, dating sims, and more and no one at gamefreak ever gave a shit. Pokemon will never change and when it does fans will complain about it anyway

Honestly over-world encounters were shit, and I own Let's Go Eevee, it's a pain to have to dodge past giant Onix in caves or pokemon that leave the grass to roam randomly where you normally wouldn't encounter them.

Its stupid as shit theres no Flashlight/Torch item for dark caves.
I'll accept Fly Surf or Waterfall hms because those moves are at least pretty useful in battle (fly less so but its still a 70BP stab move).
