Eh. Team flare was an alright team and I actually love the battle themes. Lysandre had very weak motivations for becoming a genocidal cult leader though and it hindered their theming. I think it would've been better if they chose to focus more on their greed.

This isn't even mentioning all of the side events like the ghost Hex Maniac saying you're not the one, a part of the facility in the desert permanently being locked, and some oddities in the forest area.
11/10 game, needed more events with no conclusions and events that happened for no reason

If I was a betting man I'd say those were deliberately put there as placeholders for Z/X2Y2. Think of all the stuff like the empty lots in SM for stuff in Ultra. Or Raquayza/Girantia/Kyurem in their respective gens.

If Zygarde’s forced relevance in Sun and Moon is anything to go off of we very well may have been getting one at some point, but they preferred to have a new gen release for the 20th anniversary instead of a third version. It’s probably why Sun and Moon felt unfinished as well.

The odd thing is they were clearly building up to it. 2015 was all about Zygarde only for it to get a pity quest in SM. The anime rebranded that year to XYZ too which was overall really pointless unless Z was planned at some point and cancelled. It's one of those things where we'll never know if they cancelled a game to put more resources into SM, or if they never planned one to start.

Sun and Moon don't really feel unfinished to me just rushed. The entire game just feels like a filler generation. I don't hate them personally but they left me wanting more in a different way than most primary versions.

If you're asking why they didn't make Z instead of ORAS it's because of timing. Releasing z a year after XY would not drive sales since people would not be interested in the new thing (keep in mind most of their consumer base consists of normies and not autists). It's kind of loose. They have about three teams but they're never really consistent teams. One that works on the main game, one that upgrades said game, and then a remake team. Following ORAS Ohmori started working on SM, and then barring a cancelled Z no one else was really working on any other Pokemon projects until USUM. Following SM the main team started SS and then sometime during SS's development Masuda started work on Let's Go.

I think it's most likely they canned Z so that team could assist with SM due to it's very tight schedule. The game had like barely two years dev time. The entire 2015 hyping up Zygarde and leaning on all his new forms that didn't appear in the games was really awkward.

I tried to use Steelix as infrequently as possible, but I can't just get rid of it for both Jasmine and Brock, and Bruno is famous for having an Onix. I've pretty much used every Steel type and Fighting type, so it'd be impossible for more to be added without repeating the same Pokemon. Plus, Onix is a piece of shit.

I'm still mad that kalos leaders just give TMs of old moves. The gym leaders of previous gens (excluding remakes ofc) always give TMs of moves that was introduced in their respective gen. For me, part of the fun of defeating gym leaders are discovering the new moves they introduce to the game no matter how bad they are. Viola does this but then I beat the rock climbing move and was curious what new rock move he'll give me but then all he gave was fucking rock tomb. It was a big disappointment

He does show up after your first meeting with him imprisoned in Lysandre Labs where its revealed that he'd had the key to the ultimate weapon with him and that Lysandre is descended from his brother, before Lysandre leaves for Flare's main base at the climax. He then shows up after the weapons destruction as well. It is another rather forgettable aspect of the game though.

That was a game later. I recall an interview where someone (either Masuda or Ohmori) said they chose not to give any Kalos Pokemon megas in XY because they wanted people to experience their regular designs instead of alternate forms.

yup, this. Game was doing amazing amazing stuff but once you hit grant, they felt some odd reason to start rushing you along and it was a damn shame especially since Kalos had a lot of cool places and events that would have been worth exploring.

It was super flawed, by XY was visually excellent, and for a brief time, the pacing and story was really great stuff.

XY were such a fucking disappointment. First game I dropped after the elite 4. Nothing to do. I liked ORAS better but it isn’t without it’s faults. Fuck that copied and pasted battle maison. Yeah not getting the BF sucked but they couldn’t at LEAST give us the battle tower? The stronger elite 4 was great, being able to rematch trainers with stronger teams too but they had no reason to leave out may/wally/gym leader rematches.
And personally I liked soaring, maximum comfy and fun. Not being forced to have a flymon, flying anywhere in hoen, flying encounters, mirage islands. Being able to catch so many legendaries was great I just wish they were handled better, like a small dungeon and overworld models. Not just giant floating rings with NO MENTION OF HOOPAH, EXPLANATION OR INGAME EVENT. It’s a real same how complacent and mediocre gamefreak got in gen 6-7. Always one step forward two steps back.

Extremely rushed. Then again, GF probably thought nothing of it as based on the Zygarde forms they were planning on Z as a way to rebuild some areas. Then the anniversary came, so they decided to just abandon Kalos and place Zygarde in a different region. Since then, I doubt they'll ever return unless we get gen 6 remakes in the next 20-30 years.

some were supposed to appear on tv message and all, instead dude at the market gives them and a free diancite too
truly a disaster of a remake, definitely had more letdowns than pleasing surprises
