GF will do whatever it wants. Honestly, Rubber is a stretch (forget the pun), but Echo/Sound type sounds like something they would do. New types are a good way to market new games and reinvigorate the competitive scene

Think about how it doesn't work defensively, in terms of how what a Pokemon is "made" of. We have grass for wood instruments, we have steel for brass, we have normal for animals and we even have Rock for anything clanky sounding. Sound is just literal vibrations produced by a variety of things. Its more of a utility.

The only change that needs to be made in regards to type is FLYING. I think Flying should have been Wind type or something so that we didn't get this weird thing where flying was always a secondary type and not a primary type and we get no pure flying types as well (besides Noivern line, Tornadus).

The fact that Rotom Fan exists shows me that some idiot was in charge back then.

Rockets are no more implausible than stuff like the gear moves or stuff like guillotine. There are definitely moves named after man-made technology and pokemon who incorporate that tech into their bodies (no one would bat an eye if Celesteela got a rocket-themed move).

I mean, all physical fire moves are "cover yourself in fire and hit the enemy". Fire punch, blaze kick, flare blitz, etc. All physical rock moves boil down to "toss rocks at the enemy", e.g. rock throw, rock slide, stone edge, etc. You could make plenty of cosmic-type moves which are essentially asteroid impacts, meteor showers, a comet move with a freezing chance, etc.

Whether you like it or not, there is no actual reason to implement a new type. The actual meta of types is pretty balanced already.

Fairy was added because Dragon was fucking everyone else, just as Dark was added because Psychic was fucking everyone else before Dragon.

Fairy currently has 14/17 type combos, but at release only had 9/17 (10/17 with ORAS), and 3 of those (Electric, Rock, and Steel) were from Pokemon introduced in gen 6. If anything the problem is that Sound would have a lack of pure sound types, with the Whismur line and Audino being the only real candidates.

With types like light, space, magic, sound, or whatever, at least there are possible candidates for those things.

Not only that, but you could have moves of those types that made sense (Sound would be based on sonic waves and shit, space on space weather like comets and meteors or radiation, light on... well... light, and magic on formless coloured magical force a la Dark Souls or most RPGs.) The only thing you could do with Ancient moves is put "Ancient" in the name and hope it makes sense.

In Mario and Luigi Star Saga if an enemy attacks you by making an object fall on the Mario Bros a Toad doesn't blow a whistle and come on screen and say "STOP, ILLEGAL MOVE" and give you a mushroom.

most of these shitty types make any sense.
you need physical, special, and status moves to make a type, so shit like sound, rubber, cosmic, plastic, etc are literally non-functional ideas.
the only type in this thread that would POSSIBLY make sense is magic, because you could style the physical moves around magic tricks and such, while the special ones are obvious.
even still, it's a fucking stupid idea and psychic already covers its niche.
