Back when I used to make pokemon sprites I woukd get at least a message a week from some kid along the lines of 'congratulations! You have been chosen for the privilege of having your work showcased in my up and coming new fan game! It's going to be huge, I have all the ideas, now I'm building a team, I just need a musician, a coder, and a spriter to build it all together. I am sure you will be thrilled to now make 200 sprites for me since this is an amazing opportunity for you!'. Just having work on art sites is fine, there isn't any benefit to added exposure from being part of 100 dead projects.
