What gameplay elements have Gamefreak abandoned as they've progressed?

Off the top of my head I can think of
>Contests
>The Safari Zone
>Mega Evolution (gen 7 didn't introduce any new Megas so I count it)

I wish we had sinnoh contests back with dressing up and then the contest round. If gamefreak wants me to role play a pre-pubescent boy, then at least let me role play as the fags that they are.

Literally regressed after ORAS. Hopefully they can find a way to bring it or something similar back, or it might be my last game until they do(if they do...ever)
