Just go with usum, it has some quality of life things and more ultrabeasts, also, on sm you wouldn find anyone to battle online.
The only pro of SM is the lusamine arc.

It's good in my opinion.
You still have to put up with an annoying amount of Lillie either way, but Ultra has somewhat of a lesser focus on her and her dumb family problems.
