Sinnoh's were also alright, but Platinum made a lot of fixes to them.
A few of Hoenn's were really good simply because they were either relevant (Norman, Wallace, Wattson in ORAS) or just that memorable (Flannery, Tate & Liza)
Kanto and Johto are mostly eh with a few exceptions (Sabrina's story of running the enemy fighting gym out of business, Jasmine tending to sick pokemon, Morty playing a big role in the Kimono girl story, Clair being a... fucking bitch) in addition to some of them being genuinely tough to take down (Especially ones like Sabrina and Claire with almost no weak points to be taken advantage of.)
Then Kalos had to go and fuck everything up. With one damn exception (Korrina) they have almost nothing to do whatsoever. They were also all piss easy. Why do almost none of their Pokémon have ALL FOUR OF THEIR MOVE SLOTS FUCKING FILLED?
