Kindly fix the scaling of Galar in regards with Kalos before you align them together. The Galar map is scaled bigger, hence the bigger landmarks if compared with Kalos. It should be completely on par scale-wise so people could see it more clearly that it is indeed connected with each other.

I think it’s naive *at best* to think that the same company that gave us USUM—two $40 games that could have been $10–$15 DLC for SM content-wise—would give us a whole postgame region. This isn’t GS anymore where they thought it was the end of the franchise.

Even if the two regions lined up perfectly, even if every single town in Galar referenced Kalos, even if half of Kalos characters made an appearance and EVEN if a war against Kalos broke out mid-way through the game, we will not I REPEAT WE WILL NOT get to visit a second region at launch. Why? Because GF has us by the balls now, and they know it. You can hope and dream for Kalos DLC a few months down the line, but a second region at launch will never be a thing ever again in the history of Pokemon. Ever. Never.

If e leaks are true then maybe Galar's Armored evolution ties into Kalos' Mega evolutions in some way. It'd also make sense if the Sinnoh remakes happened since they're also heavily evolution based. Whether these things happen or not I'm sure Sword and Shield will be a lot of fun.

I never bought this idea that Gamefreak thought Gold and Silver would be the end of the franchise. The Gen I games sold THIRTY MILLION COPIES. They kick-started a global media phenomenon that was raking in billions of dollars from the very beginning. So what if Gen II sold "only" twenty million copies? No they don't have to remake it entirely.

A lot of the plot etc. already exists meaning it's a rewrite, not a creation from scratch and they're already showing textures that could be reused in Kalos locations.

Way easier to redo a region that already exists, especially if you develop the new region in such a manner that you're mostly creating the graphics for both as you go.

I personally think the best way to introduce it would be to have you go to the forest right next to your house to explore properly in the post game only to reveal it has similar properties as Kalos’s maze forest and it ends up taking you direct to Kalos through the ice region where the forest starts

Except they can't reuse assets from Kalos since the scale was different due to the chibi style and polycount much lower. As bad as Sword and Shield look, they are using more detailed models than XY for the overworld.

Kalos may be in a completely different scale that would require gamefreak to remake the entire region to match galar's style but I'm sure that gamefreak is willing to put in the effort to make it all possible lol.

And even then, do people seriously believe that GF or Nintendo would basically sell you two games at the cost of one? With that naivete, you may as well believe that the sinnoh remake will be bundled with Sword and Shield.

Pokémon did not become the popular franchise it is today until around 1998 which coincides with the success of the Anime plus the localization to western markets. Everyone spectulates that the train tracks lead somewhere south that isn't the starting town. And that the starting town leads right outside the mountains, at the bottom of the vast plain.
