Eggmoves & IVs are garbage & so is the hassle to change abilities, but EVs are fine, just handled very poorly. They're useful for a few dedicated roles. If you received a sort of 2nd EXP that you could freely spend into investing EVs for your Pokémon, it'd be great.

Honestly there should be a system for all of this for extra xp bars or you manually picking eggmoves, etc. Abilities should be a bit more widespread though, I know it'd break some Pokemon, but some stuff wouldn't at all, just give them more identity that you want to give, and allow them to put in a better system of choosing rather than just what they got.

EV's, IV's and eggmoves are nice but it's only for the very small yet hardcore comp scene. The majority of players are casual so EV's, IV's and eggmoves are not important or useful for the vast majority of people who play pokemon. They're just nice bones for the autistic.

because game freak did not realize what they had done
the point of IVs and EVs was so little 7 year old billy and little 8 year old bobby or w/e could have two of the same pokemon but both of them be subtly different which is a cool idea, maybe billy's could be more tanky but slower or bobby's could be stronger but slower
but instead the system got discovered by autists and abused to make roided out super optimized monsters which is fun if you're in on it but if you're not then it's heavily unfair to try and fight against

You dont have to in singleplayer, the beauty of it is that boomers like you can just grind the pokemon without thinking about the details and sweep all NPCs because the game is fucking easy and made for children.
On the other hand if you want to win against other humans then it should be obvious that you have to put some effort in it.

Natures and EVs already do the uniqueness factor as is, I don't like the idea of a mon being born worse than another mon simply because it's not slow enough

Yes, it's completely irrelevant for the story. You first have to care about that stuff if you want to get far in the Battle Frontier/Maison/Tree/whatever, or play seriously online.

Yeah. It wouldn't be as bad if IVs always totaled to a certain value, since then at least you wouldn't have the possibility of maxing out all 6, but then you would still get cases where it was really mandatory to have max in something like speed for example.

Take Pokemon Showdown random battles, and put them in the actual game with an online matchmaking system, literal copy pasted sets and everything, and wait for showdown to add sets to the new gen 8 pokemon before putting them in too, since they will.
