I think all of the out-of-battle moves were lost when gen 7 removed HMs. Sweet Scent and Soft-Boiled don't have their effects anymore.

Why does Pokemon never tell you certain shit? No mentions of cutting tall grass, hitting environmental objects in the background, or ANYTHING about competitive preparation, but there are unskippable tutorials on catching Pokemon and some dumb feature that won't even show up in the next game

To be fair, Sweet Scent's functionality was simply replaced by Honey, which you can buy from shops now. It's just like Sweet Scent, you use it from the menu and bam, forced encounter. Gen VII is still the worst gen so far, though.
