Do zoomers watch this? It's on much later than Z was.
And while Toriyama eyes are pretty common in old designs, I can't remember anyone looking as much like a DB character as this guy.

Dragon Ball may have been inspired a little by both but above all else it was inspired by Journey to the West. After a couple volumes, it was inspired by martial arts movies because they were really popular at the time. Don't forget that Dragon Ball began as a complete gag manga based around adventure. Then, there was less gags and it became pure adventure. Then with the King Piccolo arc it transitioned more neatly into the battle manga format that most people are familiar with and finally introduced more science fiction elements for the Saiyan Saga.

Well yeah, Dr. Slump was basically gags only, and DB grew from there. The inspiration from FotNS came in at a later time, but is undeniable.

I haven't read FotNS but aren't most of the fights there against one-off nobodies that don't have a chance?
Not saying there was no influence, but it seems pretty different from the DB formula where villains dominate entire story arcs and are usually able to kick Goku's ass without breaking a sweat when first introduced.

Nah. It starts off with this undefeatable hero (Bruce lee mixed with mad-max) in a mad-max setting who travels from town to town saving them from the baddies with his super-martial arts, but pretty soon he starts running into people who have similar skills from a bunch of different martial arts schools. The first arc already has his rival who kicked his ass, kidnapped his fiance, and built a kingdom he tyrants over.

The whole thing was extremely influential over all of early shonen manga.

Basically as far as I can tell, the big four of Shounen manga inspiration is Astro Boy, Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Most action Shounen manga can trace themselves back to at least one of these four.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Also worth noting that early JoJo apes FotNS pretty hard and it wasn't until part 2 and especially 3 that it developed a unique identity.

His pokemon liked the harsh training. That's the type of training you'd need to do anyway to be a great trainer. Exposing them to their weaknesses repeatedly would make the pokemon stronger against them. They'd be able to shrug off attacks that would normally take them down.

Dragon Ball should have ended after the Frieza arc. Goku is the legendary Super Saiyan, everyone's happy, the biggest evilest force in the universe is dead, Piccolo's a good guy, Gohan found his strength, Krillin is still relevant. Should have just ended there.

Not sure what you mean by that, but under most interpretations, no. I'm not saying DB flat out copied it or anything, just that the influence is very obvious. People seem to underestimate the importance of FotNS for early shonen.

Was Android 8 ever shown to be mechanical? The Japanese word is actually "Artificial Human" and Cell is technically one of them despite being organic.

The worst part is that they could just show up any time if the writers wanted them to. The fucking bug catcher dude from Viridian Forest could roll up and demand a rematch with his old rival at any time and they don't do it. I know it would be kind of confusing for kids, but just put a flashback in. Genwunners would fucking jizz if Akira just randomly showed up with a Sandslash.

Not at all. Literally the exact opposite, even - Fist of the North Star was the last battle shonen manga of the "old style" that was around before Toriyama heavily reinvented the genre and inspired pretty much everyone that came after him.
FotN is a very good example of a pre-DB style battle shonen, and it does the formula very well, but a lot of the shit you associate with it and assume is influential was genre tropes that were already around.
