At school with my friends who also played Pokemon. Then Diamond and Pearl came out and suddenly everyone was too cool for Pokemon, even though we’d all been playing it since RBY. I only talked about Pokemon with very close friends for years, to avoid being bullied. Then when I got into high school, Pokemon was cool again for some reason, but no one I knew really played it that much, so I still didn’t have anyone to talk to about it. Then in college I had one friend who was into Pokeymans, but he got expelled for drug use, so that was that. And then recently, I got a girlfriend who likes Pokemon, but is a super casual, so I nerd out with her about Pokemon, and I feel lucky to have her.
