>>37979750Not really, each stage of the Charmander and Squirtle lines (minus Blastoise) were designed in tandem, so they were clearly always designed to be related. Each respective family use one base cry and apply the same modifiers per tandem stage - so the modifiers that are applied to make Charmeleon's cry are also applied to make Wartortle. This is how we know for sure that Blastoise wasn't Squirtle's original final evo, as there is a Missingno immediately after Charizard that has its cry intact and shares the same modifiers to its family's base cry that Charizard does.
And considering this thread is about colours, when they were designed is irrelevant, as they were designed in b/w and the coloured sprites all use the same colour for the Charmander line.
