Say what you like about ORAS, they really differentiated the named team members from each other way more than RSE did. Plus, making the magma/fire associated team the coolly logical one and the water associated team more overblown and brash is a nice change of pace from how things are usually presented.

Shelly had the exact same lines in Sapphire. That's why Courtney and Matt aren't present in Emerald.

I prefer old Courtney just because the new one is a little too cringey and waifubaity for me. Of course the old one probably would’ve been fanservicey if she got actual art, but nu-Courtney seems like she appeals specifically to greasy shut-in otaku who have never talked to real girls and unironically think they’re superior for wanting to marry 2-D girls.

They don't have any either way because that's not how it works.

All of the pairs are made as one game until late in development when the version exclusives are put in.

The dialogue was literally copy paste, they just added different art to the two games. It's just as if not more likely than there being a first of the two to be a copy, that there was no more than placeholder art up until the split.
