There is just something that makes them more attractive than any other 2D girl and I’m not even a waifufag. If it weren’t for them, I seriously wouldn’t give a flying fuck about this franchise. I swear they must have discovered a secret they don't want to share!

There's something about sexually attractive characters in a media franchise aimed primarily at children that makes it extra exciting. Plus, it uses a good simple artstyle that's pleasing to the eye without overcomplication that accentuates the prettiness of girls, they have a wide range of personalities and types, some fetishy tropes thrown in there and we're all fucking thirsty.

They're just 2D anime girls that went from super-angular jawlines and socket eyes to coin pupils, softer jaws and optional noses

Their designs are less wild because a lot of it either stems from the anime or other artists hitting a consensus with Sugimori to streamline the style a little better so Mizutani, Ariga and the rest can hit a fine middle with it.

That and most of their appeal is costume design.

People spend a lot of time playing the games and are used to seeing these characters, as well as characters in this style and related to the franchise in general. It's the same reason why there's so much porn of MLP/Sonic characters. They aren't somehow more sexy, people have just seen them so much that their sexuality is shaped by these things.

They have uniform, idealized body type and a face that is 10 years younger for that body type. The result is an unnaturally good looking girl or woman.
