Being an icefag is pure suffering. Somehow it's the rarest type behind ghost and dragon and it's also the shittiest. That ain't fair. A monotype run is impossible because they usually come no earlier than the sixth gym and they're crap even ingame.
The last good ice types came from gen IV, and the best ice type from the last three gens is a fucking Gen I Pokémon. Here we icefags were waiting for the ice type renaissance like what bugs got in gens V and VII and what do we get but Crabominable.

There are some great designs in the few that we have, so I don't mind. I'd be pretty mad if I played these games past the casual level though. GF will continue doing shit like only giving us Crabominable and some Kanto reskins or something and nothing else an entire gen, I've accepted it and moved on.

More types now + less pokemon per gen means this is probably a trend that will continue.

I still hold that Crabominable happened because Gamefreak realised it would look bad if they didn't introduce a single gen 7 ice type so they just slapped a nonsensical shit evolution on top of Crabrawler and called it a day.

Why is Ice so shitty when in old school RPGs like Final Fantasy, it was OP?

Resist: Earth, Poison, Cold (Ice/Water)
Weak: Fire, Lightning

Ice-types in Pokemon should resist Poison, Ground, Water and Ice at a minimum. You could easily throw in Rock or Dragon there too.

The worst part is they typing itself. They keep designing slow tanky ice types, but the type has too many weaknesses and is only great as an offensive type. This is why Weavile was so good.

My suggestion? make it resist dragon and water and remove it's rock weakness. That's all you need to fix ice types.

No, it wasn't. Blizzard was broken but it was best utilized by non-Ice types like Starmie, Alakazam and Tauros. Only good Ice types in Gen I was Lapras, and also Cloyster but only because it had Clamp.

I type has its place in the form of cover moves such as ice beam and blizzard. They can one shot popular typings such as dragon/flying and anything/ground. Not a great reason to not have more ice types, just something to keep in mind.
