But that's besides the point. As for NPC teams, remember that it's unlikely people would use Pokemon just for battle, they'd prioritize ones with practical uses. Pokemon Special does this really well, especially in the early arcs, so I'd recommend you give that a read.

As for minor NPCs, I'd imagine a lot of lower-class people probably wouldn't have a whole team and wouild just stick with the one, unless it's being used for manual labor like a farmer with a bunch of Mudbrays. It'd probably be a small one as well, as food and space are both issues.
