>>38010597I think Scott Shield is just the first one to get as big as she is in such a short amount of time without/before her anime appearance. I remember Rosa and Hilda had nothing, Serena was french more often before appearing in the anime, Chicken had her unchanging smile and bed sniffing, and Leaf/Green was sometimes Luigi until becoming a yandere in Let's Go.
Out of all of these Chicken is the one to get closest to Shield's level, so it might either be that enough people found it funny enough to meme it, or that things just spread faster now than during the BW days.
