It's unironically something fresh and new for Pokemon and you'll probably have a decent time throughout. Don't use candies and it actually has more of a challenge than any of the games on the 3DS. You'll get bored and stop playing a couple hours after you finish the E4 and catch Mewtwo unless you really like how shiny hunting works in the game.

There's a demo, try that if you think the gameplay is good then buy the actual game. I actually tried it last night since I couldn't sleep, I rather have the wild battles over just toss a ball but I guess it was ok.

LGBT is the best Pokémon game ever.
The plot is just Gen 1 with different characters, there are no Sevii Islands and you can't evolve your starter but in the end it's still the best Pokémon game thanks to its innovations. Too bad /vp/ doesn't like innovations and would rather eat shit from 20 years ago.

Highly mediocre. Despite what some anons are saying it really does not feel fresh despite new mechanics since said mechanics simply aren't as fun. OW encounters make caves piss ass easy to travel through, and standing still waiting for a Pokemon you want to spawn is boring. Trainers in the first half of the game are incredibly gimped compared to RBY, while the second half is a bit more on par with those games though still worse off. This jump however makes the second half of the game seem harder because there's a noticable gap but really the game is far easier than any past game. Especially if you use candies or you chain Pokemon on routes for perfect IVs and shinies. Catching is pretty eh as far as mechanics go and it's more irritating than fun. Also no dedicated online, and no battle facility in the post-game.

The highlight of the game is following. It's a feature that really does make a huge difference for me. Being able to fly higher in the air with certain Pokemon during the post game is nice too though it should have been a height toggle and not automatic and the fact that you can't instantly turn it off or have them just follow you instead of ride them is pretty upsetting too. I say give the demo a try if you want but overall they're really worth skipping.
