Seeing other LA anime movies and then seeing this...

Honestly, just from the trailers, it looks great. It looks like there was a LOT of research done into all of the generations and it's not just Kanto-mania like most other popular depictions of Pokemon are. The only nostalgia masturbating was the hint of the original theme in trailer #2 but other than that I've had a blast noticing little things and lesser known Pokemon.

I'm sure genwunners and people who barely know Pokemon would enjoy this, but holy shit it is probably going to be such a fun experience to watch this movie as a really huge Pokemon fan.

I like that it's getting mainstream appeal and has Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu, but my issue with this movie is the "Americanization" of everything. Going with stupid fart jokes, explosions, forced situational humor, and blackwashing.

From a marketing perspective it's bizarre that they haven't kept it to Gen 1 + Togepi

I'm glad they haven't, but in terms of widespread appeal Gen 1 is unfortunately what sells.

Never said I liked 4Kids. As a matter of fact, I fucking despise the 4Kids dub and the Pokemon movie adaptation (which was utter dogshit). They took a beautiful screenplay and interesting characters and destroyed it.

The pokemon look retarded in most cases and I don't like the premise of a pikachu being a detective. I'll still watch it, though. Pokémon is one of my autism's special interests. (The other is Starcraft, which better not ever get a movie.)

I like that its not a gen 1 only ashnime nostalgia wankfest but still it feels like its going to be really bad in practice, like one of those Disney family friendly live action movies with cringe-inducing humor. And some Pokemon models do look awful (Jiggs, Aipom, Greninja, Charizard...)
