it's pretty great when you wrap your head around it and stop getting shitmons.
They're not really comparable though, Pokemon are babby JRPGs, this is a monster raising game.

staying up late has no downsides just as long as you don't stay up past the time you were meant to go to sleep (i.e. if your digimon normally wakes up at midnight you can go to sleep at 23:59 and it won't count as a care mistake)

This was the only way i managed to beat the game when i was a kid.
Today I deeply resent that handout and do my best to not use it outside of the toy town quest.
