>>38024319I came to terms with that just days ago, a friend of mine that was never into pokemon as a kid let me show him some I thought he'd like. The still images for the 3d models looked so bad on the site (not *entirely* the models' fault since the images were so small, but still), I eventually just showed him the sprites instead until we got to the point that they didn't exist anymore. I feel that I should've just shown him the sprites from the beginning, they do a much better job of conveying a pokemon's personality than a screenshot of one of the models- you'd need to see one of those in motion to get a similar effect, and even then it doesn't really compare.
I would prefer great 3d models/animation over sprites, but I'm really seeing how lacking the models are in x/y and usum. I even love watercolor/pastel colors, but when everything is so washed out it doesn't really look so appealing anymore.
