Anyone else honestly hyped for Armored Evolutions? I feel like they'll be bad ass, regardless of being another gimmick. It's the next best thing to more Megas.

Who deserves an Armored Evolution? I'd love to see Armored Ursaring.

No, Armor evolution if true will be my first legit disappointment with Gen 8. The fact that they sound so similar to Megas is why I don't want them. Why not just make new Megas again GF? How inept do you have to be to not want to touch an old feature that is still capable of being expanded upon, ESPECIALLY after giving it a break for an entire Gen, only to shit out a new gimmick that sounds like a RETREAD of the same feature you want to avoid?

You got a point. We have no idea nor confirmation about what it could be. We're only going by a made up name alone.

But the thing is, no one in the board has been able to come up with an idea that wouldn't be megas with a different coat of paint. I'm not sure if GF would be bold enough to make something like that the selling point of the new games but if it was, it would be extremely insulting.

People already are tired of the new gimmick per-gen thing, there's no need to rub it further by selling the same concept with a different form.

If there isn't a new gimmick per gen you'll get the "Pokémon is just reskinning itself" rhetoric popularized further. If the series is going to survive it's best bet is to maintain that "Ew the gameplay is so samey rip GF" and "Pokémon is too complicated nowadays KANTOOOO" balance they've got going. The best negotiators succeed by making nobody happy.

Armour Evolutions could be like a form change that requires an item akin to the Reveal Glass.

Armour Evo would emprove stats but I see it as improving on a particular look of a Pokemon, that one defining feature that seperates them from other Pokemon. Like Maganium's leaf becoming more vibrant for a Fairy Typing for example, with the ability Natural Cure.

I think the issue is that it sounds like each new gimmick is going to affect the Pokemon directly, and it is something many are starting to get tired of. Like, look at the gimmicks we have so far:
>Mega Evolutions: In-battle one mon only power-boosts to certain Pokemon that also result in typing and design changes
>Z-moves: Power crystals that either turn attacking moves into one-use nukes or adds some extra boost to status changing moves.
>Regional forms: Permanent alternate forms of existing Pokemon that completely results in a total typing and ability change. Lacks the stat boosts that Megas enforce.
And now we have these supposed Armor evolutions, which will most likely involve slapping armor on your Pokemon that will result in stat boosts, type changes, or ability changes. Ultimately I think the negative impressions comes from the fact that all of these gimmicks are just different flavors of the same idea: Boosting Pokemon.

Armored Evolutions are not going to be the new mechanic, that post just had a lucky guess at the name of the games, which isn't even that hard since most people were guessing England and those names are pretty easy to come up with from England.

What if it turnes out to be fusions but not between pokemon but between pokemon and trainers.
And you get some bullshit bracelet that, when used, the pokemon gets a trainer form. It becomes more powerful and visually it acquires traits of the player's avatar.

Personally, I feel all these gimmicks are cluttering Pokémon.
Galar will need to have:

>Z-crystals for every type
>Z-crystals for every exclusive move
>Access to Alola forms
>Electric terrain
>Mossy rock
>Icy rock
>Like fifteen evolution-inducting trading items for the pokemon that need them
>A way to trigger Inkay's evolution
>A day/night cycle (though I'm just mentioning this for the sake of a complete list)
>Access to like ten evolution stones
>An affection mechanic
If any of these things exist only post-game or god forbid are missing, it'll feel shafted, and in the case of anything that isn't mega stones or z-crystals, shut down evolutions.

I want to believe Armored Evolution may have been a miscommunication by the leaker and rather we can now just equip Pokemon with armor along with hold items. Which would be far cooler than just reinventing the wheel because it'd be Mega Evolution 2.0, but you know Game Freak will take the second option.
