To me they feel like Pokemon, but only Scorbunnys final evo looks like it belongs in the Scorbunny evolutionary line. It reminds me of Greninja.

The Sobble final evo does not look like what I'd expect from an drama inspired lizard, I would expect more frizby mask as the weapon that helped inspired it. Either Water/Dragon or Water/Dark.

For the Grass type Kong, it feels like a stand alone Pokemon, no pre evolution or evolution. Not what I expect from a orchestra conductor inspired fossil record ape. Either Grass/Psychic or Grass/Fairy.

But I think they are believed fake.

They do look pretty cool but I feel they're too similar to the last leak to be real. That being said the fact Ash's outfit isn't just the player character's outfit with minor changes which isn't something you'd expect from a fake leak.

How is the Japanese? That's usually the giveaway with these images if someone from outside Japan made them.

Let's be honest, the rabbit isn't going to end up as anything else BUT a fur suit. It has been this way with the fire starters since Gen 3 and I've accepted that it will never change until we get the snake starter. All we can hope for is that Scorbunny ends up becoming a "cool" fur suit ala Lucario and Zoroark.

No one says those were the themes .. that's just your head canon. Lizards have wet eyes usually by licking them. Sobble is probably partly based on a Texas horned lizard in how they shoot blood from their eyes or something. That trailer never said one played sports and one was a musician. They just introduced them in a cute way

+ The Grass type looks like a gorilla, and it was about time to have a Pokemon that looks like one (Slaking doesn't count). If they follow the rule of Grass types starters based on prehistoric animals, he can be based on a Gigantopitecus.

+ The Fire Type is again an animal of Chinese Zodiac (the rabbit). Now we are missing the Ox, the Snake, the Horse and the Ram/Goat.

+ The Water Type seems like a Chameleon and follows the tradition of "a weapon".

They seem to be relatively balanced to each other in different ways. Grass is more offensive, water is more defensive, fire is more balanced. If those are the final typing, anyway. Of those three, I think fire/electric might be the best typing.

I mean, Grass/Fighting is unfortunate because there's a good chance it won't bring anything new to the typing because it probably wouldn't be a special attacker.
Breloom is slow, powerful and abuses status.
Virizion is fast and specially bulky
Chesnaught is a physical tank. It also gets Belly Drum, which by this design would be Grookey2's thing

I did make a mistake between pallete and parrot, but either way it still doesn’t make a great deal more sense.
Both myself and my husband (native Japanese) read Scorbunny note as ポンプ as the text is quite small and with small text it’s harder to tell between ボ and ポ and because we read it as ポンプ the only thing that made a lick of sense was Pump

And I’m not trying to pass these off as real, to me and my husband they read as fake.
GF would never write ashes name in kanji like they did then go on to refer to him as Ash.

Those two have obvious themes set from their visual design and names. Scorebunny it's all in the design and Grookey has some design aspects and a LOT of obvious things in it's names.
With Sobble, all we really know currently is it cries a lot. That's a theme that could go many directions, but when looked at with the other two, the one that would provide the most cohesive theme between the three (something that has happened the past two generations), would be that it cries because it's dramatic, with the evolution and ultimate design being a play on the term "chameleon actor".
That'd make their shared theme be entertainment: sport, music and acting.

No Japanese speaker would separate it like that. They also wouldn't use commas when listing things like we would, and would settle for a vertical list.

You could say it's James Turner not being Japanese, but he's been in Japan for well over a decade and can actually write it properly.
