Just finished playing these again. Why are they so perfect?
Seeing the gym leaders come to my rescue when the sages confronted me at N's castle was so exhilarating. I love everything about these games - the region, the Pokemon, the gym leaders and the rivals.

Gen V was such a breath of fresh air for Gamefreak and Nintendo.
It revitalized my live for Pokémon, was the time where it felt like the series was growing up alongside me, had the most memorable roster of Pokémon and characters in the entire franchise, best and most engaging story for Pokémon standards, most diverse and eclectic region, best rivals and evil team/leader, some of the sexiest Pokégirls (Roxie, Elesa, Skyla, Shauntal, Female Ace trainer, Female Veteran, Female worker etc.), and so much more

BW are just GF fucking trying for once. That's pretty much it. They didn't innovate the gameplay much, instead they worked to refine what we already had.

Playing through it for the first time in 8ish years now, and I'm SRing for a decent nature Oshawott. Sucks I have to go through 2 battles to even be able to see the nature it has.

I feel the same way. I thought maybe I didn't like BW as much as I thought I did, but playing through them recently really helped me remember how great of games they are.
Playing through BW2 and I'm getting the same feeling. I really wish these two games did better, because Pokemon would probably be in a different place now.

I enjoyed BW as well.

I love that you can only use the new pokemon on your team and that most of the pokemon live in habitats that make sense.

Other things I like:
-gym leaders have character and take part in the story (it makes them feel like actual members of their community and pokemon society)
- the little extras like musicians playing instruments and it changing the music you hear
- the little side quests like helping the baker deliver lunches
- how the seasons impact the maps

I'm just playing through it again and I'm enjoying myself, usually I don't really replay the games that much, but I just got through Moon and I just couldn't play through it again and I still needed a pokemon fix.

The only thing I really miss from the newer games is amie (also the minigames from XY) and the new pokemon.

I can't wait for the games to be remade and I'm able to explore the region in 3d and with all the newer pokemon it's going to be awesome.
