B/W had its flaws, but was AMAZING:
> best story
> great traditional RPG in its own right
> older protag
> first with Center/Mart
> first with multi-useable TMs
> dynamic music (adding instruments, last gym pokemon)
> every town/unique area has a unique theme
> LOTS of different, unique locales, from futuristic, to ancient, to industrial
> forces you to relearn new Pokemon rather than relying on old gens
> rustling grass
> trainers are given reasons to be unique types (Breeders, Nurse, Scientist, etc.)
> EXP system is great for catching Pokemon up, speeding up the game
> gym leaders are more than leaders (restaurant owners, museum director, etc.)
> lots of movement, subtle and major (heavy weather, blown leaves, perspective, etc.)
> something is happening almost always in the game (travel-wise, story-wise or event-wise)
> Triple/Rotation Battles
> most areas are unique, creative, and industrial looking with many memorable areas
> surprisingly mature/dark for a Pokemon game, having players think about actual motivations
> seasons
> soundtrack excels at being ambient, melodic, and emotional (cave music lowers in pitch the deeper you go, etc.)
> takes many risks for the sake of variety and adding freshness to the series
> small details (i.e: N only using Pokemon in the immediate area he is in; N's team also acts as an area's "final boss" by having stronger versions of that area's Pokemon; Cheren mentions using held items for strategy earlier, then actually uses the strategy against you later, etc.)
> Battle Trains are early, and you can actually participate in them very early on
> Charles...
> lots of post-game content
> post-game content is a significant challenge
> HMs are not limited to badges
> first time you can fight a Pokemon you traded an in-game trainer with
> first time that items found on the field can possibly re-appear (mushrooms, drinks, etc.)
