It kinda seems like they care/cared about Japan but they can't say the things they've been saying and care about anything but what they want.
Which, to be fair, there needs to be to some extent because if you don't care why would you waste time making it? But you can't be a business and just do what you want, you NEED to consider what the demand is.
In this case it's particularly egregious that they don't. There is no shortage of feedback from players on this shit and the majority of us aren't expecting anything they didn't already do meaning the "it's too hard/your expectations are too high" excuse not only doesn't fly, it's so immovably heavy and therefore grounded, it's got it's own gravity pulling them in and they still reject it.
If a surgeon found doing what they already did too hard, he'd be let go but for some reason in game development it's okay to not be able or willing to do what you've already proven yourself capable of. No surprise though, I guess, since the game industry is literally powered by getting away with things no other business could ever hope to get away with, and rightfully so because most of it is abusive as fuck.
