Also, originally, Johto was released and takes place 3 years after Kanto, so from a timeline point of view it makes for the Let's Go games to mimic that release. I don't know why nobody uses logic to predict this.
Also, in Let's Go Kanto, Sabrina mentions another trainer like the player appearing in three years not two.
