The ones you want following you. HG/SS is the game to pull out your bros. I recommend keeping a smaller team of 4 instead of 6 because the level curve to E4 is still kind of rough.

No, I just want an excuse to use the shiny Gyarados, Lanturn and Feraligatr in the same team. Plus I've never done a Monotype run. If it goes well ill try something similar in Platinum but mono steel.

It's somewhat lackluster as an attacker, but screen support makes raising new additions to the team a breeze. Funny how after playing these games for nearly 20 years I only recently came to appreciate that about the Chikorita line.

Both are good. Pick what you want. Cyndaquil will have a type advantage in the 2nd gym while Totodile will be neutral if that matters.

Tyranitar is good but you get him too late to actually use.

Furret can learn Cut, Surf, Strength, Whirlpool, and Rock Smash.
