LGPE sold faster than BOTW too. BOTW's Switch version took about 2 years to hit 10 million while LGPE did it in 2-3 months. The games might be shit but they still sold really well overall. The lack of Japanese support did hurt them a bit though.

This is more of a Nintendo-thing than a Gamefreak thing. I think Gamefreak would toss RGBYGSC and then RSE on the E-Shop in a heartbeat if it meant making a quick buck but Nintendo wants to promote the "streaming" service they have right now and slowly bring consoles and games to the service.

I'm sure Pokemon Red and Blue will be there when they eventually launch a gameboy section at least.

It's really not. Smash kind of slaughtered it but LGPE reached 10 million faster than both Mario Odyssey, and BOTW. It hasn't even been out for a year and Switch games are still seeing strong sales past their releasing window so it's still going to keep selling well over time. Honestly I get it. The way they're doing it with the Switch is a great idea. But they're rolling it out too damn slow. They have a massive library to pull from and 20 dollars a year is a great price for unlimited access to it. I do think a way to buy those games to keep would be nice too but a bonus service that comes with online is a great concept. In Theory. They're just rolling it all out way too slow by the time it's a worthwhile service The Switch will be outdated and replaced. There's no reason to move so slow when you're not cutting into sales of e-shop titles.

I think the catching is pretty mediocre, and the lack of variety and content hurts them overall. I really think think the games would have worked better as reverse GS remakes. Start in Kanto, move to Johto, and catch the first 251. The casual market still tends to like the Johto Pokemon, and I think most of the hardcore fans would have been a bit more comfortable going into a game with something more than Kanto.

it's a great game and is what it sets out to be, a gen 1 remake.

I think it's aged just fine. It's still perfectly playable and it has more depth, content, and challenge than LGPE does. It also stays fresh throughout the game while LGPE's capture gimmick gets old after about an hour.

I liked LGPE alot, but I would personally rather have them port FRLG to switch than play those again haha. It just has more content and the game is better looking, atleast to me. Also the Sevii Islands are great.
