Hoenn had so many fucking shitmons. Frail mixed attackers, frail nonattackers without utility, mons without STAB on their attacking stats, etc. And then you get comparatively god mons like Swampert, Blaziken, Metagross, Milotic, etc. I'd say the vast majority of new mons are unusable in a playthrough unless you ditch your starter and intentionally do a challenge run with those shitmons and no KANTOOO mons.
