And I am leaning towards Sword next gen, though I will say I like both very much, more so than any other Gen. But yeah, probably Sword.

Usually first version listed, every time except Silver, SoulSilver and Alpha Sapphire (likely would have picked Sapphire however, had I played Gen III back in the day, it's my birth stone).

and the order i got the games: lg > pearl > blue > silver > crystal > platinum > heartgold > ruby > white > x > white 2 > emerald > moon > lge

Hum, never thought on it.
I picked Blue because of Blastoise (He was in the title screen, He looked cool), Silver because of Lugia, Sapphire because of Sableye (still my favorite mon).
Dropped for gen 4 & 5 since there were not emulators at that time.
Got back with a console at gen 6 with X since I liked more Xerneas, and Sun because my roomie got Moon.

So a mix of everything really.
This time will probably be version exclusives hoping to find the same love I have for my boy Sableye.
