Is there a worse way to ruin a perfectly good design? Many monotypes suffer from shitty coverage, bring nothing to the table and are predictable as fuck.
Look at the starters: Blastoise, Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Sceptile. Serperior and Samurott. 2 of them are carried by having overpowered abilities but all of them are overlooked in their base forms.
Look at OU and UU, vast majority of mons there are dual typed.
Even now most of the fanbase expects all new mons to be dual types. No one uses pure normal regional rodents but everyone uses birds even though normal/flying has been way overdone
Alola forms gave new life to otherwise worthless monotypes
They should just straight up boost monotype STAB to adaptability levels
