What if they add johto only region variants and then add these variants to let's Go Johto? It may explain why they made region variants for Kanto only. Then, gen 9 will add variants for Gen 3, and so.

The reason they made Kant’s variants was to balance LGPE with more dark, fairy, steel, and dragon types. Otherwise it would be overpowered by psychic like it was in RBY.
