>>38079752Oh yeah, and for Porygon/Castform, Castform has four forms with the Sunny Form having balls around the head that resemble early Porygon2. Early Porygon2 itself resembles Mr. Donut (or rather the other way around as Porygon2 technically existed first). But one must look at why Pokémon are designed the way they are.
Porygon: Polygon Pokémon, CG, made in the mid-90s by scientists when that technology was still in its infancy. Porygon barely resembles any sort of animal because of how primitive the technology is. Porygon2 is an evolution of this concept where polygons are used in greater numbers to resemble actual spheres. The example used is the typical Japanese sun weather icon you see on news channels (you might remember the Forecast Channel on the Wii having different weather icons for Japan than it does the rest of the world). And what animal is often paired with the sun? The lion. So Porygon2 is a sun-lion (pre-Solgaleo) to show off its simplistic spherical polygons.
Castform's forms are also based on these same Japanese weather icons.
The fallacy is thinking
Concept X > Pokémon A
Concept X > Pokémon B
Therefore, Pokémon A > Pokémon B
When really, the similarity comes from the fact that that they're based off the same concept, not each other.
