Was Pokémon always this childish? Am I crazy or are these games significantly more juvenile than the ones before? I mean, it's always been for kids but they games weren't so goddamn cheesy before.

The only other evil team leader that comes close to being as completely deranged as the 3DS gen lunatics is Cyrus, but at least he's not selective in how he wants to sub-zero humanity out of existence.
Giovanni does experimentation on Pokemon and mind control. Accidentally fucks up and creates something he cannot control out of scientific pursuit towards DNA reconstruction and cloning which mirrors modern science and the possibility of unforeseen consequences. So at least there's some meaning behind the story.
Magma/Aqua are just lol ecoterrorism and pic related.
Ghetsis tries really hard to be illuminati but is a massive loser.

If your dad worked at CERN, and the LHC malfunctioned and sucked their entire facility into a wormhole.
