with tweaks these could and more importantly SHOULD have been evos. The very fact they exist and with Megas having a fixed stat increase meaning theres no real way to buff them at all means they've basically ruined those mons and their chances for actual evos (thereby increasing their own usage, especially audino, with eviolite) forever.

Tossup between these two. Might have to go towards sceptile, the idea of a gecko losing its tail and using it for offense instead of defense is fantastic.

I usually like Megas that feel like the logical extension of the previous design (Gets bigger) or one's thar reincorporate elements lost during evolution.

So not crazy on Blazekin or Lucarios, really love Ampharos.

Mega-Scep is a good example of being more competently designed than the base form.
The seeds on it's back even serve a bigger purpose and don't feel tacked on

I don’t understand why they did Megas, they backed out mid gen from friendship to edgy “it hurts your Pokémon” flavor texts, most of them are pretty good, slowbro’s is a favorite for being a derpy one

Gamefreak are hyper idiosyncratic (read:autistic) when it comes to upholding the continuity of certain things, the chief of which being evolutions and evolution methods. For all intents and purposes and I'm pretty sure its been somewhere in official materials but don't quote me on that, Pokemon who are capable of mega evolution are for all intents and purposes 'fully evolved'. Having something capable of evolving further into a completely new polemon alongside having the limit-break form just doesn't seem like something Gamefreak would do.

My favorite didn't get this treatment but it's some serious bullshit and clearly meant to cleave the audience clamor for more Megas by suggesting its Pokemon abuse. I wouldn't be surprised if later on they make using a Mega affect the friendliness stat of a Pokemon negatively to further nerf them down.
